Welcome to the 3 Star Elysee Hotel London
Madame Tussauds
Located to the north of Central London, Madame Tussauds is a museum that houses wax models of famous people. The wax museum displays figures under the categories of sports, royals, movie stars, world leaders, musicians, cultural figures and many more. The museum has expanded with branches in New York, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Amsterdam and Shanghai.
As recorded in history Marie Tussaud, the founder of the museum learnt the art of wax modeling under her mentor Dr Philippe Curtius. She then traveled around Great Britain and Ireland exhibiting her wax models of famous personalities. In 1835, she finally chose to settle in Baker Street where the museum with wax models was opened for the public. Visitors at that time were charged six pence to witness the marvels of the wax models. Later on due to lack of space the museum was moved to Marylebone Road where it is currently located.
As a major tourist attraction in London, Madame Tussauds attracts over two million visitors each year. It boasts as being the only wax museum that contains wax models of possibly every famous person on earth. The most famous wax replicas of the museum include figures of the royal family such as the Queen, Prince William, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, and Princess Diana. Musicians and Hollywood stars such as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, and Leanardo DiCaprio also attract large numbers.
With life like wax models located in the surrounding, Madame Tussauds is also famous as a favourite event venue. The museum is conveniently located with easy access by tube, train, bus and private vehicle. Visitors on leisure or business travel in London have the luxury of staying at Elysee Hotel which is a hotel near Madame Tussauds.
